Editor,
Chuck Armstrong's article regarding SGA's allocation of privilege fees was upsetting; however, I was not sympathetic toward the writer.
I understand that Armstrong was frustrated with the system and lack of money, but his issue should be with SGA, not with the Society for Appreciation of Bharatiya Heritage and Arts. I do not understand his need to not only blame SABHA, but also make sarcastic comments that only left him sounding bitter and ignorant.
The fact that Armstrong has never heard of SABHA has no correlation to whether it should receive funds. I attended the beautiful, unique, and educational event it sponsored last semester, and I'm very excited to attend the upcoming dance performances.
Bharatnatyam is a graceful, powerful, complex tradition of dance that is only one aspect of a very rich culture. This event is free to anyone who wants to take advantage of the opportunity to experience something special.
Armstrong, I challenge you to understand that your ability to pronounce a word has no bearing on its importance.
I challenge you to take the time to learn how to pronounce this word and maybe even educate yourself on something new and different.
Lastly, I challenge you to learn how to express your frustrations without making ignorant, offensive comments about innocent organizations who are only trying to educate you on what you obviously do not understand.
