After more than two days of speculation, Bob Huggins gave K-State his answer. Despite numerous efforts from the university to convince him to stay, Huggins boarded a plane Thursday afternoon to fly to West Virginia where he will accept the job as the Mountaineers new men's basketball coach. Soon after that, president Jon Wefald, athletics director Tim Weiser, and vice president for institutional advancement Bob Krause answered questions at a press conference at the Legends Room at Bramlage. "I can tell you that there is no question that we did not ask, there is no issue that we did not put on the table, and I think you should know that we moved heaven and earth to keep Bob Huggins here," Wefald said. "Time in effect said, you tell us what your salary should be? Whatever West Virginia is offering, we will match it, and then some, same way for the assistant coaches." Weiser said the athletics department would consider every option for a new coach but that he hadn't begun searching at that point.
