Comedian Michael Ian Black will perform stand-up comedy at 8 tonight in McCain Auditorium.
This event is something sponsor Union Program Council has planned for a long time, said Erica Boatman, junior in apparel design and UPC entertainment co-chair.
The previous entertainment co-chairs also worked to bring Black to K-State; however, Boatman said it was not difficult to get Black to perform here.
"It wasn't too hard," Boatman said. "We just needed to find a good date."
Black has starred in television shows including "The State," "Ed," "Stella" and VH1's "I Love the 70s/80s/90s." He also starred in the film "Wet Hot American Summer." For more than a decade, Black has written, produced and performed comedy.
Jake Acosta, junior in English, said he looks forward to Black's performance because of his previous work.
"I really like the show 'Stella' he was in," Acosta said. "I'm excited in the same way I was excited for Mo Rocca."
Acosta said he expects a good show from Black.
"I expect it to be humorously insightful," Acosta said. "I feel like he's a pretty smart guy."
Many students are excited for Black's stand-up, Boatman said, but some need to see his picture before they realizewho he is.
"I think a lot of people need to put a face to the name; then they're like, 'Oh, yeah. I love him. He's hilarious,'" Boatman said.
Boatman said she thinks Black's stand-up act will be a hit with students because of his comedic style.
"I know he tends to be a little raunchy in his stand-up," Boatman said, "but I think that's more of the comedic style a lot of students like."
Tickets are still available for students who would like to attend Black's show.
"It's not currently sold out, but we have had a lot of sales," said Becki Ronen, freshman music performance and employee at the McCain Box Office.
