At the 99th-annual Drake Relays, in Des Moines, Iowa, the track and field team captured three top-three finishes and a fifth-place finish.

Sophomore pole-vaulter Alexandra Gonzales secured the Wildcats' highest finish at the four-day meet, when she took second in the women's pole vault on Friday. She cleared the bar at 12-07.50, which tied her previous personal-best, and earned a regional qualifying mark.

The Wildcats earned another top-three finish on Friday, when the women's distance medley relay finished in third place. The squad of seniors Donniece Parrish and Morgan Bonds, junior Lilliani Mendez, and sophomore Beverly Ramos recorded a time of 11:36.19, which is the fifth-best finish in K-State history.

Saturday, junior Mike Myer recorded the Wildcats' third top-three finish when he completed the 100-meter dash in a time of 10.47. Myer's bronze finish comes a week after winning the 100-meter dash at the prestigious Kansas Relays, and marks the third time this season he has finished in the top-three.

Myer held second place after the preliminaries on Friday, after racing to a time of 10.43, but fell one spot in Saturday's final. Myer's preliminary time marked the sixth time this season he has earned a regional qualifying mark.

Last year's outdoor national champion high jumper, junior Scott Sellers, tied for fifth in the high jump, clearing the bar at 7-2.50. The junior was one of five competitors to finish at that height. Nebraska's Dusty Jonas, who has battled with Sellers several times this year, won the event with a jump of 7-6.50. Sellers topped Jonas to win the Big 12 Conference Indoor title, while Jonas beat Sellers to win the NCAA Indoor Championships.

The Wildcats 14 athletes to the Nebraska Open on Sunday, in Lincoln, Neb., and took four event titles.

Freshman Tiara Walpool took the title in the women's triple jump, skipping a distance of 40-05. Freshman LaKeisha Herring took fourth in the event, with a distance of 38-07.75.

Senior Marnyka Honeycutt and Walpool finished first and second, respectively, in the women's 100-meter dash. Honeycutt clocked a time of 11.93, while Walpool finished in 12.35. Honeycutt also took the title in the 200-meter dash, with a time of 24.16.

Gonzales left the Drake Relays after competing on Friday, and traveled to Lincoln to compete her second pole vault competition of the weekend. She cleared a height of 12-01.50 to take the title in Lincoln.

Sophomore Danny Schneider took the title in the men's 1500-meter run, recording a time of 3:57.69, while junior Emily Dittemore took second in the women's 1,500-meter run, finishing in a time of 4:39.03.

Next weekend, the Wildcats will split and have athletes compete in two different events. Some will stay at home and compete in the Ward Haylett Invitational at the R.V Christian Track, and some will travel to Palo Alto, Calif., for the Cardinal Invitational.
