Injuries prove fatal for K-State student

Alex E. Studer, sophomore in agribusiness, died Friday at the Mitchell County Hospital, Beloit, Kan., from injuries sustained in an automobile accident, according to Heather Reed, assistant dean of student life. Alex is the son of Mark Studer and Kerry Benson, both of Beloit.

Alex was born April 9, 1988 at the Mitchell County Hospital and graduated from Beloit High School in 2006. He was involved in various sports there, including football, basketball and track. Alex was initiated into the National Honor Society his senior year and also placed sixth in the shot put at the Kansas state high school 3A track and field meet that year. Throughout his life, Alex spent a great deal of time outdoors fishing and hunting with his father.

Alex had just finished his second year of college at K-State. He had been asked to join Sigma Alpha Lambda, a leadership honorary.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday at Beloit First Christian Church. Alex was buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Beloit, Kan. McDonald Funeral Home in Beloit was in charge of arrangements. Memorials can be made to the Joe Studer Educational Fund in care of the funeral home.
