With a population of 226,721 people according to the latest U.S. census, Glendale, AZ is a city that loves its sports. With a team in each one of the four major professional sports (football, basketball, baseball and hockey), this is a perfect place for the sports fan and K-State fan base to enjoy their time in Arizona.

University of Phoenix Stadium, the host of the 2013 Fiesta Bowl, is also the home of the Arizona Cardinals. It features the first fully retractable natural grass playing surface and is one of the most of popular stadiums in the United States.

The stadium hosted the 2008 Super Bowl between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots and the 2011 NCAA national title between Oregon and Auburn. The 2015 Super Bowl will also take place in Glendale, making the city one of the most widely used venues for sporting events.

If you are more of an NBA fan, do not worry; the Phoenix Suns also call the area home. For K-State fans, this should spark a particular interest, as former K-State great Michael Beasley is a member of the Suns. He is an important contributor on the team, averaging 10.2 points and 3.5 rebounds.

The Suns will be in action at home on January 2 against the Philadelphia 76ers and January 4 against the Utah Jazz, and are offering a K-State discount to all Wildcats fan to see the former K-State star.

With the Phoenix Coyotes (NHL) and Arizona Diamondbacks (MLB) also playing in the Phoenix metropolitan area, there are sports going year round. However, if you just want to go hang out with some friends, there are some great places as well to watch the game.

One of the top places is Majerle’s sports grill, owned by former Phoenix Suns great Dan Majerle.

With food, drinks, karaoke and all of the biggest sports game on the television, there is rarely a dull moment during bowl season. However, if you are looking for the true sports fan’s dream, then the place you have to visit in Phoenix is the Cactus Moon Sport’s grill.

With 48 High-Definition televisions showing multiple sports at all times, there truly is no greater place for a sports fan to hang out.

For all K-State fans that are enjoying their time right now in Arizona, and to all the fans that are getting ready to make the trip out West, there is plenty to do to feed your sports appetite.
