Coaching search update...
I haven't said much on the K-State coaching search as of yet. I have been sitting back and waiting.
It has been a roller coaster ride and I thought I saw it coming to an end tonight or tomorrow, but that doesn't appear to be happening from what I am hearing.
After spending 90 minutes standing outside of the Vanier Football Complex with some other media members, I concluded that the coaching search has not stopped.
Sports information director Kenny Lannou arrived at approximately 6 p.m. and told us absolutely nothing was going on at the meeting. Everyone still stuck around as players slowly kept arriving for the 6:30 meeting.
Athletic director Bob Krause arrived at 6:20 and walked in. The meeting was over by by 6:45 and the players and Krause all exited and said nothing. Except for senior defensive Ian Campbell who shouted out: "It's Spags from the Giants," as in the fine defensive coordinator from the New York Giants (I am pretty sure it was a joke by the way).
So all the news and rumors that broke today saying it was Bill Snyder, appear to be unfounded at the moment, and I had bought in to them this afternoon just like many other fans. There may be something to it eventually. But I fully expected a press release tonight to be issued and for a press conference to be scheduled for tomorrow morning. I don't see that happening after what I saw tonight.
I will say this. I have seen Krause around quite a bit -- at basketball games, men's and women's. He seems relaxed about the whole thing. It just doesn't seem there is much of a search going on right now, which also led me to think it is Snyder.
And from what I have been told, Snyder was the first choice of this administration but nothing has come of that as of yet. It may never will, who knows?
But if it were to be Snyder, it would certainly make sense to have an announcement by Tuesday. If no announcement comes by then, I would look for it to be someone else. All speculation on my part.
But this "search" is certainly strange, and that's the only thing I know about it right now.
