The beginning of the school year signifies long nights of no sleep and high levels of stress for professors and students alike. Lost in all the commotion of the school year usually tends to be an individual’s health.
Poor food choices and lack of motivation to exercise are the biggest contributing factors that lead to the loss of one's personal appearance.
We at the Collegian want to stress the importance of staying active during the school year, because inactivity can lead to diseases such as heart disease, stroke and diabetes later in life.
It's relatively easy to stay active. We have the Peters Recreation Complex and the Natatorium on campus, in addition to 23 parks spread throughout Manhattan.
The easiest way to stay active is to get a bunch of friends together to play sports, or even have a Wii "Fit" party.
And don’t say that you will start after the Labor Day weekend, because on Monday, Chapman is hosting a 5K run with all benefits going to help the town recover from the tornado that nearly demolished it over the summer.
So get out there, get some exercise and help a community in need.
