It’s just shock, I guess would be the best word to describe it,” said Huschka, junior in industrial engineering. “This is one of the proudest moments of my life.”

The pair’s next step was to relax and celebrate with friends and family, followed immediately by picking up the campaign.

“It’s been a long two or three months getting ready for this campaign, and I haven’t really had a chance to make time for myself,” Huschka said.

After catching up on homework, Hushka and White said they would be getting back on the campaign trail as soon as possible.

“We’re so excited, but we’re so excited to get back to work as well, there’s not too much time to celebrate,” said White, junior in civil engineering. “I’ve been so impressed with all the support we’ve got from other people. I think we’ve done a great job campaigning, and I think we’re ready to continue next week.

Huschka said they’ll campaign even harder during the coming week.

“Now, we know there are a ton of people out there that are really concerned,” he said. “We want to work our butts off over the next week, and we don’t want to leave anything behind, and at the end of the generals we don’t want to say, ‘Man if we would have done a little bit more and worked a little harder, we would have won.’”

Huschka and White’s slogan is “Stand and Deliver,” which represents their interpretation of the office of student body president.

According to their Web site, the two believe the primary role of student body president and vice-president is to “represent the student body’s voice in all significant university issues.”

Improving K-State athletics, creating an academic reward system and a student body advisory council and starting a program to reward students with innovative ideas are all part of Huschka and White’s platform.

The K-State athletics improvements are intended to build on the positive image created by school spirit associated with the athletics program.

The proposed academic awards system would give students discounts at participating vendors depending on academic success.

The student body advisory council would give the president a method of acquiring student input on issues.

Huschka and White’s proposed program, Kansas State Students Delivered, would give one-year full-ride scholarships to students with innovative ideas that positively affect K-State.

Huschka and White have been working together in classes and SGA for three years.

“Andrew and I work great together,” White said. “We’re very fun-loving people and very light spirited people, but very serious about what we do. We have a lot of dedication, and I think together we’re really a dynamic duo.”

I am a former Kansas State student, now a professor at another college. I have known Laura for many years and I am shocked to hear these petty comments. I thought SGA was above this kind of behavior. As for her integrity, I can testify to the high quality... which is exactly why she hasn't gotten involved in this "spoiled rich girl" debate. Financially, she works to put herself through college unlike many of other students. She is bright and is offering to share her talents with the KSU student body. Perhaps you should spend your time focusing on the issues, not whether a sign was hung too high or low, or if your jealous rage should affect the outcome of this race.

sorry but i bet every loser on here is supporting the other campaign and it sounds like they have nothing better to do... haha, get a life... whoever wins will do a good job... both groups of canidates are qualified in my book, and i dont know all the details but i hear that rules were broken from both campaigns, just some campaigns turned each others in and others did not... just campaign!!!! and may the best two win.

This Publius guy sounds like one of "them". So I think in some ways, he/she will be giving his/her side of the story and not necessarily what might be on the other side (biased). So, I think you should just give it up. The students, I'm sure, are able to know who is the right candidate for them and who is not. Let them choose. As far as for the hearings are concerned, we must respect the decision of the Elections Review Committee. After reading the Collegian, it appears they worked very hard to come up with the right decisions, going to an extensive time deliberating and extending closed sessions, which took over 3 hours! And I do have a few friends telling me that the chairman guy....I think his name is Ronnie?....had worked tirelessly to make the hearing happen in short notice with very little time to rest. So I think they must of done a good job! It shows their commitment for service.

The fact of the matter is that they've been pressing the limit the entire time. Breaking rules isn't just an accident--it's happened the entire campaign.
"I don't even understand why this is a rule anyway--just because we're trying to get people to vote!...the other candidates have been in SGA longer, so they know how to fill the expense report out correctly...they're just coming down on us and harassing us."
--Andrew Huschka

Their e-mail wasn't a GOTV effort..it was using an academic list serv for inappropriate reasons:

"We would appreciate your support by casting your ballot for Andrew Huschka and Laura Rachelle White.
Thank you for your commitment to this institution we all love.
We are ready to STAND and DELIVER for you,

Andrew Huschka
Laura Rachelle White"

This is blatant. The committee was simply afraid of taking the action outlined. Rules and Laws are not based on intent, they're based on actions. The actions taken were wrong, and no one did anything.

This is blatant bastardization of the democratic process, and shouldn't have been allowed. There's no reason to have rules, if they're going to be allowed to be broken.

Cheating to win is unacceptable. Our university deserves better than this.

My mother is the sweetest person alive.

How dare you challenge her honor by suggesting something otherwise.

Laura Rachelle is the sweetest person alive. No she is not a rich brat. She a Civil Engineering major, she is very intelligent. She works extremely hard for what she wants. Why don't you take the time to talk to her before you make assumptions.
