The K-State Cycling Club will offer bicycle repairs and inspections, which are free and open to the public, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Bosco Student Plaza on Wednesday. The event is in preparation for the club’s upcoming spring cycling season.

Tanner Marshall, senior in mechanical engineering, said the main idea for doing this public service is to keep bicycles on campus in good shape for the spring.

A local bicycle shop, The Pathfinder, 304 Poyntz Ave., donated supplies to make the repairs.

“I feel it is the Cycling Club’s responsibility to facilitate the growth of the cycling community on K-State’s campus as throughout Manhattan,” Marshall said.

Club members will inflate tires, lubricate chains and make other minor repairs.

Tyler Whetstone, junior in industrial engineering and club president, said if more significant repairs are needed on any bicycle brought to the club, members will be able to advise the owner on what needs to be fixed.

“The Cycling Club is very concerned with cycling in Manhattan,” Whetstone said. “It’s more fun to ride a bike when it works. We are going to do our part to make sure people have fun on their bikes.”

Kris Pacinelli, fifth-year student in mechanical engineering and club philanthropy director, said anyone at K-State are welcome to come and receive repairs on their bicycles, as well as learn more about the club.

“I’m excited to do this because it will promote the Cycling Club and get people out and riding their bikes,” he said.
