K-State will win North

When it comes to K-State spring football, it is way too early to make legitimate predictions for the upcoming season. Nonetheless I will make an attempt to show how stupid or smart (lucky) I am by doing it anyway.

Let's start with Daniel Thomas. Thomas led the Big 12 in rushing yards last season. Mind you, Thomas never played running back at the Division-I or junior college level.

I predict Thomas will not only eclipse last year's totals, but he will also win the Doak Walker award for the nation's top running back and be a first team All-American. Thomas looked stronger, faster, and more agile in this year's spring game. Thomas needs to show NFL general managers that he can catch the ball out the backfield, but besides that, Thomas is a first-round pick talent.

He is not fast by any stretch but bulls over defenders and always falls forward. The scary part is that he is making less cuts and moves even quicker up field. Oh yeah, the offensive line is also better.

Brodrick Smith, the native of Garden City, Kan., sat out a year after transferring from Minnesota. There did not seem to be much rust for Smith as he looked amazing in the spring game. I think Smith will continue the great lineage of K-State wide receivers and win the Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year award. As great as Brandon Banks was, his size was a huge question mark, and it is hard to design your offense around someone who is 5-foot-6 inches tall. Smith provides the quarterback with a big-bodied target with great hands, something K-State has lacked for quite a while. I predict Smith will catch 70 balls and gain 800 yards.

Carson Coffman will be the 2010 starter. Coffman looked great in the spring game. He looked comfortable in the pocket. This could be credited to a great offensive line who did not have to combat with blitzes. I did not see Collin Klein play because of an injury, but head coach Bill Snyder has always valued experience. It seems hard to believe Klein will win the job considering he could not beat out Grant Gregory last year whose shoulder was barely usable.

Lastly, K-State will win the Big 12 North title. Thomas is the best back in the nation. The Wildcat defense is better than advertised, and the offense will be better as a whole. K-State should have won the North a year early. Bo Pelini was completely out-schemed by Snyder last year, but the offense was unable to overcome a couple of early scores by Nebraska.

The Wildcats 2010 home schedule is favorable. Snyder is back, and this team is not outstanding by any stretch. There are plenty of questions, but if I trust one man to answer them, it is Snyder. The Big 12 is in a state of flux, and those players in the locker room have to feel comfortable after their near-North title. This team is going to be hungry to avenge its season-ending loss in Lincoln.

Circle your calendars; October 7 is going to be the showdown where K-State cements itself as the best team in the North.

I will not predict but guarantee that KSU will beat Nebraska this year and send the huskers to there Big 10 cellar. Coffman will be a different guy this year and combined with Thomas the Cats will score points. All you HUsker idiots you were not a solid 10-3 last year and a couple KSU fumbles and KSU beats NU last year. Nebraska is a joke and will lose their recruiting base and will be another Iowa while the Big 10 flounders.

BS is a great coach! No doubt about it. He is even better than Bo is right now. Still, KSU couldn't beat a crippled Husker team last season with the great schemes of BS. I wish KSU, and especially BS, the best except on the day that they play the Huskers. If KSU can beat Mizzu, then I expect them to be in a very good Bowl Game this season. That's quite a turn-a-round in a short time since the departure of the Fresh Prince of Manhattan.

Let's concentrate on getting a bowl and improving our team this year before we make proclemations of victory. We will finish ahead of Colorado, ISU, and KU...that I know. Mizzou and Nebraska are still fairly good. We will catch up, maybe not this season, but by 2011 for sure.

KSU has a very good chance of winning the North this year. Looks like the receivers are better, the QB better, O-line better, defense will be better and Snyder has a full year to prepare for the season. Anyone that says he can't coach is an idiot. The main thing missing from last year is Banks, yet Snyder will have some good special teams as always. Last year, KSU just got better after a slow start. No slow start this year. They will hammer UCLA and go from there. Last year, it took the usual officiating home-turf BS calls in Lincoln to stop the Cats. Two drives were killed my multiple penalties. Not this year, Little Red Riding Hood!

Fecal Buff said..."Doesn't matter, all of the North Schools except for us is headed to mid major status after realignment. Go Buffs! Can't wait to join the Pac 10!"

How ironic this statement is..considering the only team in the north that has played like a mid-major over the last 3 or 4 years IS Colorado!

Yup...Snyder outschemed Nebraska to the tune of 3 points on your side of the scoreboard (what a silly human being you are). Bravo! And just for the record..if either Helu or Burkhead or Lee are healthy during the NU/KSU game last year..NU wins by 4 TDs. It ain't getting any prettier this year either. NU by at least 3 TDs in Man(happenin').

K-State finishes 3rd in the north at best..

there's some good merit to this article, and i think that k-state has a great shot at playing second-fiddle in the north. they won't come close against the big red, though. they wear purple.

Kansas State will give Nebraska a game. However, Nebraska wins in a close one and wins the Big XII north. Kansas State will be much improved this year and should go to a bowl game.

Wow. How pathetic are some of you people? Just for the record, I'm a KSU alum and fan who thinks NU will probably win the North although the Wildcats should be much improved this season. When you're a Wildcat, sometimes you just have to be optimistic. Why can't the fans from NU and CU learn to show some class? You're an embarassment to your schools and the good programs you should hope to represent. Most of the people I went to school with had a lot of respect for Tom Osborne and I remember having a great time stopping at the tailgates of the old guys from Nebraska; they were good guys and fun to party with. Apparently they've all died along with the hope of having any self-respecting fans. Grow up.
