This week the general election for the student body president and vice president is taking place. Voting started today at 8:00 am and it ends on Wednesday at 6pm. Students can choose between Sam Brinton and Molly McGuire or Danny Unruh and Annie Oliver. Brinton and McGuire are running based on increasing academic opportunities with tutors, making it easier for students to find groups, translating the Web site so foreign exchange students can use it, being more responsible financially by keeping lights off when nobody is in the room and by not increasing the student privilege fee relative to inflation. Unruh and Oliver want students to know what their privilege fee is supporting, enhance the classroom experience by finding out how students want to learn in the classrooms and support diversity programming and the Study Abroad program.

I agree with the point about consensus building. I know the parties here and I have to say I would much rather work with Danny and Annie. No offense intended to anyone but if you have had my vantage point I'm sure you'd feel the same way. And for the record, I am an engineering major.

Sure, sure...they are all nice and have to be organized to get where they are now...BUT, when asked to represent our university, Danny and Annie are the only candidates that I would want to reflect who we are as a student body. They also have broad interests and experiences with different groups and organizations and have been involved since their freshman year. The best candidates are Danny and Annie - no matter where they live, greek or not, they will do a better job of representing the student body as a whole.

Sam is a very friendly, organized person. He has managed to garner huge support without overt help of the greeks -which says alot since frats and sororities already have their methods of garnering votes. Go Sam and Molly!

I urge you to broaden your viewpoint on the Greek community. First of all, Danny and Annie appeal to MORE than just "frats" and sororities. Chapters in the Greek community focus on scholarship, leadership, and service. Not just partying. Furthermore, many of K-State's best and brightest leaders were/are members of the Greek Community. Fear not the Greeks. Fear Sam and Molly and what will happen to this campus if they win.

Correction: Danny and Annie had one campaign violation, which was purely speculation. Sam and Molly were found in violation for completely violating copyright. Pretty clear there. I'm voting for Danny and Annie.

I've seen Dannie and Annie at all kinds campus events. I met Annie at Wildcat warm up 3 years ago and we have been friends since then - and I am NOT GREEK! We have volunteered for different clubs and organizations all over campus. Same with Dannie, I see him at many activities with people from all over. They can be more effective and I think they are in touch with lots of different people. And having good contacts good save us money...no problem with that at all!

A vote for Danny and Annie = Fraternities and sororities reign in SGA for yet another year at K-State.
A vote for Sam and Molly = We "might" see some changes that benefit "everyone" but I'm still sketchy about them.

Overall, I think they may both suck! I'm not intrigued by the selection we can make this year. I think either way we may be screwed. If Danny and Annie win, the frats/sororities get to rule SGA again, and this will obviously put a big smile on Gayle Spencer's face (Coordinator of OSAS) (I still think she should be FIRED!), but if you vote Sam and Molly, I'm just not sure. They don't seem to "have it" to make a good President and Vice President. Oh well, let the students choose, I'm simply not voting this time around.

They're a hell of a lot more vague on their campaign promises then Sam and Molly. I think Danny and Annie are going to win, but I wish they were a little more specific on some of their points. How are they supposed to enhance my classroom experience? So what if I know what my privilege fee is supporting? I just don't want it to increase. Honestly, the two campaigns appeal to completely different groups on campus. Sam and Molly appeal to the music department, international students, engineering students, and LGBTs. Danny and Annie have the support of the Greeks. So I don't necessarily know if either campaign will build consensus better then the other one. Also, Danny and Annie have already had several campaign violations. For example, they got cheap rates on their posters because Annie was friends with the daughter of a guy who runs a printing company.

After carefully considering my options, my support and vote will go to Dannie and Annie. Building consensus is vital to the growth and vitality of effective leadership - regardless of what some campaigns claim - Dannie and Annie have that ability because they are approachable, diverse and respectful. Hats off to all the candidates and their teams...
