A Manhattan bicyclist was struck by a vehicle and sent to the hospital after the vehicle's driver ran a red light Tuesday, according to a Riley County Police Department report.
The accident occurred at the Tuttle Creek Boulevard and Bluemont Avenue intersection.
At 9:05 a.m., Mickeh Karl, 35, of 827 Gillespie Drive, was driving a 2004 Honda Odyssey heading south on Tuttle Creek Boulevard and turned west onto Bluemont Avenue, striking the bicyclist, who was headed east, according to the report.
The cyclist, William Ellis, 51, of 3770 Powers Lane, Apt. 15, was transported to Mercy Regional Hospital for minor injuries. Karl received no injuries, but was issued a citation for running a red stoplight, according to the report
TEEN EJECTED FROM VEHICLE
Two Manhattan residents were transported to the hospital Tuesday after their vehicles collided, according to a Riley County Police Department report.
The accident occurred at Kansas Highway 18 and Scenic Drive; details as to how the accident occurred were not available.
At 7:40 a.m., Conner Divine, 16, of 5401 Stonecrest Drive, was driving a 1994 Pontiac Sunbird, and Ada Sanchez, 27, of 222 N. 17th St., was driving a 1997 Oldsmobile Achieva. The two collided, and Divine was ejected from his vehicle, according to the report.
Both were transported to Mercy Regional Hospital, Divine for abrasions and cuts to his head and arms and Sanchez for back and knee pain.
Both vehicles were towed, according to the report.
