Three recent burglaries resulted in the loss of a varying amount of power tools and U.S. currency.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars branch at 212 S. 4th reported that some time between Aug. 23 at 9:30 p.m. and Aug. 24 at 11:40 a.m. around $12,000 of U.S. currency and coin were taken. Additional damages were made inside the building with no final estimate of the damages available. There were no signs of forced entry.
Jorge Vargas, 42, of 3313 Valleywood Drive, reported that around $900 of power tools were taken from 605 Leavenworth some time from Aug. 22-24. There were no signs of forced entry.
Ging Dozier of Caney, Kan., reported the theft of around $700 of assorted power and welding tools from 230 Yuma St. from Aug.21-Aug. 24.
Damaged Windows
A series of car windows were damaged around Manhattan on Monday causing considerable expenses.
There was an estimated $4,000 in damages to the cars of the nine victims, Lt. Herb Crosby of the Riley County Police Department said. Most instances involved the use of a pellet or BB gun.
