Changes have come to the K-State Student Orientation and Enrollment program.
This summer, President Kirk Schulz will speak to incoming freshman and transfer students.
Most of K-State's previous presidents did not speak at enrollment, but Schulz has chosen to break the mold.
"I'll speak at as many of them this year as I can," he said. "It's something I really enjoy doing, and I really like the opportunity to visit with our new students and new parents, when at all possible."
The location has also transitioned from Union Station, on the main floor of the K-State Student Union, to the Union Ballroom, on the upper level of the Union.
"I think it's been a good change; I've heard no complaints thus far," said Michael Boeck, junior in open option and orientation leader at enrollment. "I think we've acclimated from the Station to the Ballroom very well."
Kirsten Regan, program assistant for New Student Services, said this year's enrollment numbers are not yet available. However, she said the enrollment numbers are "right on track."
Orientation continues toinclude small and large group sessions, led by orientation leaders. Academic advising from colleges and departments takes place each day in the late morning and afternoon.
Also, the Union Expo still serves to give students the opportunity to get involved in clubs and activities on campus and in the Manhattan area, said Emily Lehning, assistant vice president of New Student Services.
Lehning said Friday is the last day of orientation and enrollment.
"So far this year, orientation and enrollment has been a great success," Regan said. "Our staff has, once again, exceeded our expectations, and we're very excited to keep moving through the summer."
