Student Body Vice President Ropert Swift was arrested Thursday night

Student Body Vice President Robert Swift was arrested for disorderly conduct at 2:10 a.m. Friday in Triangle Park, 1400 Bluemont St., according to a Riley County Police Department report.

RCDP Lt. Kurt Moldrup said RCDP officers were making a routine patrol of the area when they witnessed Swift, senior in political science, push another individual with enough force to knock the offended off his feet. Moldrup said there was no indication Swift was defending himself in the push. He was released on a $750 bond.

The individual who was pushed was Matt Settle, senior in management, of 1918 Lee St. According to Swift, Settle was asked to leave the establishment, Tank's Tavern, where Swift is an employee. Swift said Settle refused to leave and became violent with the bar's staff.

"I am very embarrassed and apologize to the students as well as the university for my actions," Swift said.

Well, this event is given special attention. Nobody wanna such kind of thing happen. It's not good for anybody at all. I have talked with my bisexual friends at -- BiMingle dotcom . We all hope things can turn to be good. The only thing they wanna prove may be that we LGBT are eaqual to others on earth

Agree with first comment. I am not a student and have a respectable job, but am a realist and have degree in JMC from KSU. No, I am not currently a journalist, but a teacher and this is NOT NEWS! Doesn't RCPD have underage drinking parties to bust or some shoplifters to arrest?

I wish KSU collegian stay the hell out of people business, they always publishing stuff without knowing all the information making people look back, SWIFT you dont have to apologize, you were doing your job. Tell the damn collegian to stay out your business. The blotter and other police arrest should not be in the student paper, you are messing up peoples lives and reputations on campus by knowing all the details, just what RCPD tell you. We all know RCPD are bored and they have nothing better to do but harass people to make them look like they are arresting people. You need to do some real work and crime. Leave us innocent people alone.

I agree that everyone has made mistakes. However, everyone should also learn that you are responsible for your actions, or reactions, whichever the case may actually be. Being placed in a leadership role is (or at least should be) a privilege, not a right, and if serving in a leadership role should take the role seriously. There were other options for this young man, other than taking matters in his own hands by pushing the other individual, even if he was the bouncer… A fact I imagine he will attempt to high light in the future, at a job interview maybe?

Wow, sounds as if someone wasn't ready for his position of leadership.

I think that everyone around his age will sometimes make mistakes that were otherwise unintentional and we must give a person a second chance in hopes that in cases like this, he learned from his mistake and avoid it in the future. I'm sure Robert has learned his lesson. If not, I hope he understands that his actions could lead to impeachment and can lose office if Student Tribunal finds him guilty.

It sounds as if Swift was doing his job, removing a potentially violent drunk from his place of employment. What about that warrants an arrest?

As a Kansas State alumna, I am utterly appalled at this "role model's" actions. I once admired this young man, and believed he had a bright future. After this turn of events, I have decided to focus my attention elsewhere.
