Driver charged with murder

A 24-year-old man was arrested on charges of second-degree murder Wednesday after a K-State student died in a car accident in Russell, Kan., according to a police report.

Tracy Driscoll allegedly lost control of a 2000 Ford pickup in the early morning of Oct. 21, according to a Russell County Sheriff’s Office report.

Driscoll allegedly fled the scene before officials arrived, but the passenger in the truck, Rebecca Trible, a sophomore in marketing, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Deputy Russell County Coroner, according to the report.

According to the report, the truck was traveling south on 184th Street at a high speed when the driver lost control and rolled several times in a ditch.

Becky Anschutz, Russell County Sheriff’s Office clerk, said Driscoll is no longer imprisoned. He posted $150,000 cash bond on Oct. 25.

Anschutz said there are no further details available at this time, and a first appearance date still is being discussed.
