Police are still looking for a 15-year-old Manhattan High School student who went missing Monday, according to police reports.
A Riley County Police Department release reported Shirley Stockton was last seen Monday after she was dropped off at school, but she did not attend classes.
At about 1 p.m. later that day, Stockton’s cell phone was found at the scenic overlook on K-177 in Riley County. Stockton’s family then reported her as a missing/runaway juvenile.
According to the report, Stockton might have planned the disappearance.
She might be traveling to Lemoore, Calif., or Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Stockton is described as a white female about 5-feet-4 inches tall, weighing approximately 115 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black suede-looking coat with a hood, a light blue shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes with blue stripes on the side and carrying a red Nike backpack, according to police reports.
Michele Jones, communications coordinator for Manhattan-Ogden USD 383, said the school district is asking that anyone who knows anything about the whereabouts of Stockton report it.
“If anyone, students or in the community, knows anything, we do encourage them to talk with RCPD,” Jones said.
