Injury accident sends two to hospital

A vehicle accident involving four people sent two to the hospital for injuries Thursday morning, according to a Riley County Police Department report. The vehicles were traveling on Calvary Road, north of Manhattan.

RCPD Lt. Kurt Moldrup said Bryn Martin, 57, of Great Bend, Kan., was taken to Mercy Regional Health Center for back pain. Shannon Dickerman, 19, of Abilene, Kan., was also taken to the same hospital for shoulder inujuries.

The first vehicle was a 2006 GMC driven by Thomas Wilkinson, 45, of Riley, Kan. The second vehicle was a 2005 Toyota driven by Jeffery Murphy, 49, of Solomon, Kan.

Moldrup said the cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Hat robbery

In another RCPD report, a Manhattan man had his hat stolen Thursday morning at 1:40 a.m. Michael Cox, 26, filed a robbery report after he and the suspect had a confrontation at 1127 Moro St. His hat was then allegedly taken by a 22-year-old male.
