The Graduate School announces the final doctoral dissertation of M. Jean Ballew, titled “Teachers’ Perceptions of the Influence of Awards Received for Excellence in Teaching Early in Their Careers.” It will be held Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. in Bluemont 368.

Comedy show to raise money for Sunflower CASA
The Sunflower CASA Project will be holding its first ever CASA Comedy Club on Sept. 21 at the Wareham Opera House. Comedians Brian Kiley, an Emmy Award-winning writer for “Conan”; Frank Santorelli, of “The Sopranos” and “Law and Order”; and Ken Rogerson, of “There’s Something About Mary,” will be performing at the shows.
There will be two shows, a dinner show catered by Wahoo Fire & Ice Grill and a late show. Doors to the dinner show open at 5:30 p.m., dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. Doors to the late show open at 9:30 p.m. and the show starts at 10 p.m.
Tickets are $65 for the dinner show and $30 for the late show and can be purchased on the CASA web site at sunflowercasa.org or at the CASA office, Varney’s Book Store or Bluestem Bistro in Aggieville. Proceeds from the event will go to support Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs).
Sunflower CASA is a volunteer-based agency that supports abused and neglected children involved in the court system through no fault of their own. Sunflower CASA serves children in Riley, Clay and Pottawatomie counties.
Deadlines to drop classes approach
Monday is the last day to drop a class and receive a 100 percent refund. The last day to drop a class for a 50 percent refund is Sept. 17, and the last chance to drop any classes without a”W” recorded is Sept. 24. Students with questions regarding dropping classes should contact their adviser for assistance.
