The American Red Cross will host a campuswide blood drive this week from Tuesday through Friday.
The blood drive will be set up in the K-State Student Union Tuesday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. On Friday students can donate blood from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. in the Union. There will also be booths set up in Putnam Hall Tuesday through Friday from 2:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Students who donate blood will have the opportunity to receive prizes and gifts.
“We can help save up to three lives when you donate blood,” said Kristi Ingalls, senior donor recruitment representative for the Manhattan branch of the American Red Cross. “We partnered with Texas Roadhouse so anyone who comes out will receive a free appetizer, along with scratch cards for iTunes and more. Texas Roadhouse will be doing drawings for free meals, and whichever greek house has the most participants will have one of their chapter dinners catered for free by Texas Roadhouse.”
The procedure is completely free and takes five to 10 minutes, according to Ingalls.
The minimum age to give blood is 16 and donors must weigh at least 110 pounds.
