A simple way to spruce up one’s daily outfit is by spicing up one’s accessories. There are many new and emerging trends in the fall and winter 2013 fashion lines. From runways as famous as the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, as well as many others, there are new ways to include up-and-coming trends into one’s daily outfits.
Bags and purses
Small handbags are one of the most recent fall fashions surfacing from the runways in N.Y. Large bags with small handles to be worn around the wrist and forearm surfaced from designers such as Bottega Veneta, Dior, Balenciaga, Nina Ricci, Lanvin, Salvatore Ferragamo and Dolce & Gabbana.
Portfolio bags are another trend that have surfaced from fall fashion weeks, including the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. According to an article from Harper’s Bazaar from fall 2013, oversized portfolios present the image of professionalism, while rendering the briefcase irrelevant.
Gray and silver
Fifty shades of gray are surfacing in upcoming fall clothing lines, not just in the clothing but in the accessories as well. Accessories made of sterling silver will be common this upcoming season. Purses, boots, heels, hats and scarves coming in varying shades of gray will soon become familiar on store shelves. The fall and winter seasons will offer gray and silver accessories for all people looking to spruce up their outfits.
Pearls
One of the most classic accessories for women through the decades is the use of pearls. The classic look was a common theme on the runway this season. According to a 2013 article from Style magazine, designers such as Alexander McQueen, Ana Khouri, Chanel, Marie-Hélène de Taillac, Delfina Delettrez, Hervé Van Der Straeten, Christian Dior, Aurélie Bidermann, Tom Binns and René Caovilla utilized pearls in their work. Pearls will be a common accent on everything from traditional necklaces and bracelets to accents on shoes and belts. This classic look will be an in vogue sight this fall and winter.
Punk Rock, Grunge
Something seen during the fall and winter 2012 were the grunge and punk rock looks. This included spiked and studded leatherware including shoes, jewelry and other accessories. The fall and winter 2013 lines include similar themes. This season’s pieces include edgy concepts that incorporate razor blades, spikes, mock razor wire and chains. Look for more punk rock and grunge looks within the next few weeks.
Faux Fur
Depending on the year and season, faux fur continues to come in and out of style. However, faux fur showed up on the runway this year. According to an article from Vogue magazine from fall 2013, faux fur will be seen most often on handbags, clutches, hats and the trim and cuffs of jackets. Even though this may not be the most seen or publicized theme from fashion week in Manhattan or on the K-State campus, it’s definitely a trend that tends to be popular in more urban areas.
