A male K-State student was arrested for allegedly kidnapping and attempting to sodomize a female victim on university property on Oct. 24. The K-State Police Department investigated a report of possible sexual assault, which led to the arrest of Jared Carr, 21, at Van Zile Hall Thursday afternoon. Carr, freshman in open option, was charged with one count each of kidnapping, aggravated criminal sodomy and criminal restraint, according to Riley County Police records. Bond for Carr was set at $5,000.
Police arrested two men they believe are responsible for several vehicle burglaries in Manhattan. Cole Smykle, 21 of Fort Riley and Raymond Burrus, 20, of Junction City were arrested in the early morning of Oct. 27 in the 700 block of Osage for burglary and interference with law enforcement. The Riley County Police Department said the arrest of the men allegedly led officers to evidence and stolen goods that tied the two to 11 other vehicle burglaries. Bond for the two men was set at $6,000 each.
Riley County Police investigated a vehicle burglary that occurred in the early morning hours of Oct. 25. Manhattan resident Matthew Brown, 21, reported to police that several items were stolen from his vehicle while it was parked in the 1400 block of Nichols Street. Approximately $1,000 worth of golf clubs and accessories were taken from the vehicle, according to Brown.
