Wichita Police have arrested a man suspected of murdering K-State alumnus Daniel Flores.
Antwon D. Banks, 31, was arrested just after 10 p.m. on Wednesday in his vehicle. The officer who pulled him over found Banks with a knife in his belly. It appeared Banks had stabbed himself in an attempted suicide when he believed the police were closing in on him.
According to KAKE, the arrest was made possible by a tip from Crime Stoppers. According to the Wichita Eagle, Banks is the ex-boyfriend of a woman who worked at Steckline Communications with Flores. Lt. Todd Ojile told the Wichita Eagle that Banks did not know Flores, and it appears that Flores could have simply been in the wrong place at the wrong time when he was killed.
Flores’ body was found in Streckline Communications on Monday. He had been an employee of the radio station for about a year. More information will be posted online and printed in the Collegian as it becomes available.
