The suspects are described as three dark-complected white males. One of the suspects was reported to have a noticeable accent of unknown origin. Matt Droge, public information officer for the RCPD, said that while no new information has been released, the investigation is still ongoing. Series of fires damage multiple vehicles
A series of building and car fires were reported shortly after Tuesday morning.
Around 2:00 a.m. Tuesday, emergency crews responded to a report of a vehicle fire in the 800 block of Moro Street. About five minutes after their arrival, a second fire was reported in a stairwell of an apartment complex at 801 Moro St.
Approximately 45 minutes later, fire and police officials received an additional vehicle fire complaint at 823 Laramie St. Three cars were affected by the fire, causing a combined total damage of approximately $26,000. Police and fire investigators determined that there was a “high probability” that the fires had been started intentionally.
Anyone with information about the fires is asked to contact the RCPD or Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers at 785-539-7777 or 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). A potential cash reward of $1,000 is being offered.
