Predicted Big 12 standings:
6. Texas Tech
7. Oklahoma State
8. Iowa State
9. West Virginia
Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year: Bryce Petty, Baylor QB
Petty proved in 2013 that he is a force to be reckoned with. He wrapped up his junior campaign with 4,200 passing yards and 32 touchdown passes. It’ll be hard for anyone in the Big 12 to match that sort of production and there’s no reason to believe that Petty can’t do it again. Baylor’s explosive offense puts him in a great position to put up ridiculous stats once again this season.
Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year: Ryan Mueller, K-State DE
Mueller’s 2013-14 performances defied expectation for the former walk-on. Thanks to a relentless motor, his 11.5 sacks last season were second-most in the Big 12. Mueller could be even better this year because K-State’s defense will potentially feature better pieces around him with the addition of key junior college transfers.
Bold Big 12 prediction: Oklahoma State will not see a bowl game
Through the last eight seasons, the Oklahoma State Cowboys have ended their year with a bowl appearance. The 2014-15 season will bring a halt to their postseason run. While Mike Gundy is a tremendous coach, his team lacks experienced talent on both sides of the ball.
Sugar Bowl: Michigan State defeats Oklahoma
Rose Bowl: Florida State defeats Alabama
