
After defeating Missouri State on Wednesday, 5-1, No. 66 K-State women’s tennis looks to pick up a pair of wins against UMKC and Emporia State on Saturday at Body First Tennis and Fitness Center in Manhattan.
K-State will look to ride the hot hands of sophomores Livia Cirnu and Iva Bago. Cirnu has won her last three matches and is 6-3 overall in her last nine matches. Against Missouri State, she clinched a singles and doubles win.
Bago equaled her win total from last year on Wednesday with a win over Missouri State’s Mackenzie Rozell, 6-0, 6-1. Bago is now 11-8 this season.
The Wildcats will face UMKC at 11 a.m. on Saturday. The Roos come in with a 3-4 mark this season with a win most recently over Evangel in Kansas City. Lone senior Maddie Schulte, a Wichita native, leads UMKC at No. 1 singles with a 3-3 record.
Emporia State will face K-State at 3 p.m. on Saturday. The Hornets enter 3-1 this season, led by sophomore Tawni Griffey who is 4-0 this spring season at No. 1 singles.
After the weekend, K-State will head back on the road and travel to Las Vegas, Nevada to face UNLV next Friday and Colorado State next Saturday.
