Wildcats finish week 3-0 with pair of wins Saturday

No. 66 K-State women’s tennis (5-5) finished with an unscathed record on Saturday at Body First Tennis and Fitness Center with wins against UMKC and Emporia State.

The Wildcats secured an early 1-0 lead over UMKC with quick work coming from No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. The No. 1 doubles team of sophomore Palma Juhasz and Livia Cirnu, and No. 2 doubles duo of sophomores Maria Panaite and Iva Bago each topped UMKC 6-0.

Cirnu, Juhasz and Bago finished the match for K-State with 6-2, 6-2 victories over UMKC in singles action.

K-State clinched a 7-0 victory over Emporia State with the help of two players seeing their first action of the spring.

Freshman Laura Hopton picked up her first win of the spring season at No. 5 singles. The product of North Ferriby, United Kingdom is now 7-7 as a Wildcat.

Redshirt freshman Tegan Louw saw her first action on the courts and tallied her first win at No. 6 singles.

K-State also had help from their sophomore trio of Cirnu, Juhasz and Bago, who all picked up wins to move to 9-0 collectively this week.

The Wildcats will head to Las Vegas, Nevada to face Colorado State and UNLV starting on Friday.
