The K-State women’s golf team is eyeing a strong performance at the SMU/DAC Invitational this weekend in Mesquite, Texas after a spring-best third-place finish at the Mountain View Collegiate on March 21.

The event, which kicks off today, will pit the Wildcats against Big 12 competitors Kansas and Iowa State with the Big 12 Championships just a few weeks away.

“The team is looking forward to this event and play the Dallas Athletic Club,” K-State head coach Kristi Knight said to K-State Sports. “It is a good challenge for us.”

Knight’s scorecard will be headlined by senior Olivia Eliasson who helped carry the Wildcats to a strong finish in the Mountain View Collegiate. Eliasson finished two-under par and 10th overall for the tournament. Fellow senior Carly Ragains and sophomore Madison Talley also performed well enough to garner top-20 finishes.

K-State finished in 10th place last year at the SMU/DAC Invitational, which was shortened due to weather. Eliasson led K-State that weekend with a second-place finish at two-over par.

The event, located at the Dallas Athletic Club, will kickoff today with the first 36 holes. The final 18 holes will take place on Saturday.
