The Kansas Board of Regents approved of a 2 percent raise, about $9,300 for President Kirk Schulz on Thursday. On Friday, he thanked the board and then announced he would donate all of it to an awards program.

“I very much appreciate the 2 percent raise, which was approved for me by the Kansas Board of Regents yesterday,” he said in a written statement on the K-State website. “…However, since we were not able to provide a campus wide salary pool this year for faculty and staff, I do not feel it is appropriate that I should receive a raise.”

Schulz said he would gift the amount of the raise to the University Support Staff program which recognizes outstanding support staff members.
