State of Kansas sues US Army

The Kansas Department for Children and Families filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Army earlier this week, claiming that the military branch will deny the department from continuing to provide cafeteria services at Fort Riley, according to the Topeka Capital-Journal.

According to the lawsuit, the Army wants to re-catagorize its food preparation contract at the base in such a way that will prevent the state from bidding on it.

“The successful performance of the current contract by Kansas through its licensed blind vendor demonstrates that a licensed blind vendor can provide the required cafeteria operations services at Fort Riley at a comparable price and comparable high quality when compared to other providers of such services,” the DCF said in its lawsuit.
