The K-State School of Music, Theatre and Dance held a grand opening Friday, August 28, 2015, for the new and expanded Purple Masque Theatre in the West wing of Old Stadium. Visitors were treated to Call Hall ice cream, to tours of the new facility, and to performances by the K-State Marching Band, K-State Tap Dance Ensemble, and a troupe of miming clowns. The Purple Masque Theatre, previously a hole-in-the-wall facility housed in East Stadium, was long overdue for upgrades and expansion. The new facility includes a large foyer, double the seating capacity, several dressing rooms, a large makeup room, an expanded stage, space behind the stage to build the sets, and a room designed especially for the drama therapy program.
