Former tennis player, James Blake, is asking for an apology from NYPD after being tackled and handcuffed in a mistaken identity case.

NYPD Police Commissioner William Bratton called for an internal investigation of the matter.

Blake has been very open about the case.

“It was definitely scary and definitely crazy,” Blake said to the Daily News. “In my mind there’s probably a race factor involved, but no matter what, there’s no reason for anybody to do that to anybody.”

Recalling the event, Blake said to the Daily News that he didn’t know what was happening and never would have guessed he would be tackled, he also said the officer was not wearing a badge.

“Maybe I’m naïve, but I just assumed it was someone I went to high school with or someone who was running at me to give me a big hug, so I smiled at the guy,” Blake said.

Blake supporters have rallied behind the star and are outraged by the NYPD’s actions. Many are calling it an act of racial profiling.
