Starting Jan. 1, Manhattan residents are going to see a higher water bill. Water, sewer and stormwater rates are each increasing by three percent in 2016, according to a City of Manhattan press release.
City officials estimate that average households will see an additional expense of $1.81 a month or $21.72 annually.
The fee increases will go towards water and wastewater improvements, including the Blue Township water main extension, upgrades to the water and wastewater treatment plants, Northview sewer improvements and Eureka Valley transmission main, according to the press release.
The fees are a part of the city’s 2016 budget, which was discussed and approved by the city commission.
