RCPD joins tri-state safe driving initiative
The Riley County Police department will join soon in on a tri-state effort to reduce teen driver related fatalities and collisions.
From Feb. 29 to March 13, RCPD officers will partner with law enforcement agencies across Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma will be increasing vigilance when patrolling area schools zones, according to KMAN.
RCPD will be focusing specifically on deterring speeding, texting and driving, and failure to buckle up.
RCPD investigating burglary, arson
The Riley County Police Department is currently investigating a burglary and attempted arson report in northeast Manhattan.
Police were called when about $2,000 worth of damage was found to an unoccupied home in the 2400 block of Charolais Lane, according to Little Apple Post.
Damage included spray painted walls, as well as what appears to be an attempt to ignite a bottle of lighter fluid. As this is an ongoing investigation, RCPD encourages anyone with information to contact Manhattan-Riley County Crime Stoppers at (785) 539-7777.
