SGA to hold runoff in presidential election

The Student Governing Association will hold a runoff election for student body president and vice president Monday, Feb. 29.

Logan Britton, SGA elections commissioner, said a flaw in the election system was discovered that “caused us to believe that the third pairing may have been up there with the other two.”

The runoff will be to determine the top two candidate pairings for the general election Mar. 1-2. The candidate pairs are Jessica Van Ranken and Trenton Kennedy, Robert Sharp and Sam Hughes, and Michael Emley and Linda Bilberry. All three pairings will be on the ballot, and there will not be a write-in option.

The runoff will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

A previously-scheduled presidential debate for Monday, which would have been hosted by Wildcat Watch, probably will not take place, Britton said.
