GTM Sportswear sold to Hanes

GTM Sportswear was sold to Hanes Wednesday.

KMAN’s Tyler Dreiling, son of GTM CEO Dave Dreiling, reported that GTM, a Manhattan-based clothing company, was sold to HanesBrands Inc., a Fortune 500 company based out of Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

GTM employees about 900 people nationwide, approximately two-thirds of whom work in Manhattan. Dave Dreiling, a Kansas State graduate, told KMAN that GTM employees should not worry about job security.

“(Hanes is) buying us because of our capabilities, which includes our people,” Dreiling told KMAN. “The objective with this acquisition isn’t to come in and shave costs; it’s to grow the business, quickly and effectively. They give us the tools to grow faster than we could on our own.”
