The Kansas State women’s rowing team will kick off its season on Saturday when the Wildcats compete in the Head of the Oklahoma regatta in Oklahoma City.

Teams competing alongside K-State will be Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Tulsa and the University of Massachusetts.

The 46-woman team includes 11 seniors in Kayla Brock, Marissa Butrum, Courtney Cooke, Noelle Dykmann, Kelsey Eagleman, Mary Rose Eakes, Courtney Faucett, Maddie Petersen, Hunter Anne Postier, Emily Stec and Ariana Thompson.

This will be Patrick Sweeney’s 13th season as head coach of the Wildcats, and he has 30-plus years of coaching experience.

Sweeney and the Wildcats will look to build off the success of the last few seasons. The team finished in the top three in the Big 12 Championships two of the last three years.

The team will have some time off after the Head of Oklahoma, as the team’s next regatta will be Oct. 23 at the Jayhawk Jamboree in Lawrence, Kansas.
