A student was stabbed in an altercation with his roommate early Wednesday morning at Marlatt Hall, according to a student resident.

Dustin Galichia, freshman in biology, was arrested by Kansas State Police shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday morning and charged with aggravated battery.

According to the student resident, the stabbing occurred during an argument between Galichia and his roommate, Christopher Stutler, freshman in microbiology, on the sixth floor of Marlatt.

Mat Droge, RCPD public information officer, said the investigation was in the hands of K-State Police. When contacted, Jennifer Tidball, K-State Communications and Marketing writer, said they would release more information about the incident in a written statement.

The statement said Stutler was taken to Via Christi Hospital, treated for a non life-threatening wound and released. Galichia was taken into custody and released. There is no continuing threat, according to the university.
