Journalism and mass communications director steps down

Birgit Wassmuth, director of the A.Q. Miller School of Journalism and Mass Communications, is leaving the position at the end of the semester, according to an internal K-State email.

Wassmuth joined the university in 2013 when she took over the director position. She previously served as department chair of communications at Kennesaw State University for seven years.

According to the email, a search committee is being formed to appoint an interim director to serve from Jan. 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018. The search for Wassmuth’s permanent replacement will take start in the summer of 2017.
