K-State men’s golf team tees off spring season

The Kansas State Wildcats men’s golf team tees off their 2017 spring season at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate in Mobile, Alabama, today and Tuesday.

The tournament is hosted by South Alabama. Teams competing alongside Kansas State are South Alabama, Georgia State, Mississippi State, Cincinnati, Louisville, West Virginia, Chattanooga, Louisiana, Southern Mississippi, Illinois State, Western Kentucky, Abilene Christian, Alcorn State and Texas State.

The meet will take place at the Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course. The course is a par-72 from the purple tees with a yardage of 7,212.

The Wildcats’ team includes three seniors: Matt Green, Connor Knabe and Jack Rickabaugh.

The team is coached by Grant Robbins, who is in his third season coaching at Kansas State.

Competing in the two-day tournament are sophomores Jeremy Gandon and Roland Massimino and freshmen Ben Fernandez, Jacob Eklund and Levi Valadez.

After this, the Wildcats will return to Alabama, this time in Opelika, for the Tiger Invitational March 5-7.
