Sweet treats are the latest scoop in Aggieville this week with the opening of Pandora Rolled Ice Cream. The rolled ice cream shop opened its doors on Feb. 8.

Rolled ice cream, a twist on the classic summer treat, originated in Thailand and is a handmade frozen dessert made by pouring a liquid base onto a freezing metal surface. After the liquid is frozen, it mushed together with mix-ins and toppings before it is thinly spread onto the freezing surface. Columns are scraped from the surface into even rolls.

Mprll Lee, owner of Pandora Rolled Ice Cream, said she was inspired by her children to open her shop. Lee said she took her children to a rolled ice cream store and they “absolutely loved it.”

Kenzie Smith, Manhattan High School student, said she has watched videos of the rolled ice cream making process on YouTube.

“It’s my first time trying rolled ice cream, and I’m glad I get to try it locally here in Manhattan,” Smith said.

Lee said in the week since Pandora has opened, the shop has been very busy. She said she is looking to hire employees since she is currently the only person who works at Pandora.

Pandora is located on 1125 Laramie street across from Chipotle in Aggieville. The shop operates Sunday through Thursday from noon until 10 p.m. as well as Friday and Saturday from noon until 11 p.m.
