After winning the first season series of the year last weekend against Old Dominion, the Wildcats will host the La Salle Explorers out of the Atlantic 10 conference Friday for their second series of the season.

After playing the first eight games of the year on the road, the Wildcats will be home and will play in front of their home crowd at Tointon Family Stadium.

After an 0-3 start to the season, the Wildcats have improved their record by winning four of their last five to come into this game 4-4.

Over the past five games, the lowest runs scored by the Wildcats was six, and they scored 11 runs twice.

La Salle has a record of 4-4 going into this weekend’s series.

Despite scoring 16 runs in one of their eight games, the Explorers are averaging 7.3 runs a game. The Wildcats pitching staff will hope to carry the good pitching they displayed against Old Dominion. They have allowed an average of 6.2 runs during their last five games.

For the Wildcats, this series is an opportunity to continue to play good baseball and continue the hot hitting they had against Old Dominion.

This home stand will be a stepping stone for the Kansas State baseball team before going into conference play.

K-State’s senior players — Kyle Barfield, Jake Biller, Hanz Harker, Justin Heskett, Trent McMaster and Hudson Treu — will play the final home opener of their career.

The first game of the series will be Friday at 3 p.m. The second game of the series will be Saturday at 4 p.m., and the series finale will be Sunday at 1 p.m.

The whole series can be seen online on K-StateHD.TV and can be heard on the radio on 1350 AM KMAN.
