K-State research writer Jed Dunham, has done extensive research on the history of Kansas State. In a look to the past, he discovered a tragedy that occurred in Manhattan in 1965 when two students passed away in a traffic accident on the intersection of Anderson and Bluemont Avenue. The City of Manhattan solved the issue by adding the intersection system they have there today.
Dunham uses this story from the past to illustrate why K-State should change the current crosswalk system on campus. To Dunham and countless students, many see these crosswalks as an accident waiting to happen.
