The National Football League’s 2018 schedule has been officially announced, and I want to give you a heads up on what games to circle. Here are the top five Kansas City Chiefs games I am looking forward to this year, especially since it could be a long season for the Kansas City Royals.
5. Raiders at Chiefs – Dec. 30
This is a game that Chiefs fans seem to always worry about because Oakland is tough. The Raiders this year could be more dangerous than ever before. With Jon Gruden now at the helm and some good off-season pickups, Oakland will be as good as advertised. Derek Carr had a bad year last year as Raiders quarterback, and he will be looking for a strong comeback this season. It is also going to be a big game because it will be the last game of the regular season, so postseason implications could be on the line at Arrowhead Stadium.
4. Chiefs at Patriots – Oct. 14
A Sunday night showdown between New England and Kansas City should be really good under the bright lights. Tom Brady is always tough to contain, but the Chiefs will have to do just that in order to get this win. It’s also a very good coaching matchup between Andy Reid and Bill Belichick, who are two of the best coaches in the game right now.
3. Chiefs at Steelers – Sept. 16
This is a game that the Chiefs always seem to struggle with whether it is in the regular season or the postseason. This will be an opportunity for Kansas City to pick up a big win early in the season against a tough Pittsburgh team. The Chiefs will be ready, and they can pull this one off.
2. Chiefs at Rams (Mexico City) – Nov. 19
The Chiefs have been pretty good lately on Monday nights, and this will be a good one to watch. The Rams are loaded this year and have former Chiefs player Marcus Peters. That will add some fuel to the fire in this game, and it will be a rowdy crowd down in Mexico.
1. 49ers at Chiefs – Sept. 23
This is the Chiefs’ home opener, and the 49ers were the best team in the NFC late in the year last year. Jimmy Garoppolo could be the next big thing in the NFL, and the Chiefs will have to play really well to get a win in this game. If there is any game I want to see this year in person, it is San Francisco at Kansas City.
