Dear Wildcats,

Can you believe we are almost halfway through the semester? Time flies when you are studying for tests and cheering on the ‘Cats!

SGA has been working toward progress on a number of initiatives this semester and we wanted to provide you with an update on progress since the beginning of the semester.

A few weeks ago, we had the incredible opportunity to host the 2018 Big 12 Student Governing Association Conference. This was a weekend full of learning and sharing ideas with representatives from each Big 12 school.

We had breakout sessions dedicated to free speech, diversity and inclusion, food insecurity and advising; in addition, we split into groups to share ideas based on respective positions, watched presentations on each school and even made time for some fun at the Bill Snyder Family Stadium and Wabash Cannon Bowl.

We are excited to take the ideas and projects we heard about at the conference and put them to use here on our own campus.

Mariana Cruz, cabinet member and campus climate and safety director, recently established the Wildcats Task Force Against Sexual Violence, made up of 15 students who plan to evaluate how Kansas State handles sexual violence on campus and make sure student conduct codes and general procedures related to sexual harassment are followed.

KSUnite will be held on Oct. 9 with facilitated group sessions from 10:00 to 11:45 a.m. and a Unity Walk at 1 p.m. starting in Bosco Plaza. Students are encouraged to attend and wear purple to support diversity, inclusion and equity. We’ll be there and we hope to see you.

Lastly, we want to encourage students to take advantage of SafeRide, a late night bus service that runs Thursday through Saturday from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. New routes were established this past summer that now stop at many high-traffic areas for students across town. Find your best route using Google Maps.

Please don’t hesitate to email us with any ideas, questions or concerns, as we are always looking to help students in any way we can! Our emails are: jkiehl@ksu.edu and lacyp@ksu.edu. Also, please follow us on Twitter and Instagram @KStateSBP_SBVP for more updates on all things SGA and happenings on campus.

As always,

Go Cats!

Student Body President and Vice President
