The Riley County Police Department is investigating after two individuals were injured following a report of shots fired early Saturday morning near Tuttle Creek Boulevard and Kimball Avenue.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., RCPD received a report of shots fired on the 2300 block of Kimball Avenue, according to a department release. Officers ask that the public avoid the area.

The release says two individuals were life-flighted to Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka for injuries. RCPD has not given any additional information on a suspect or potential circumstances surrounding the incident.

RCPD asks that anyone with information on the shooting call the department at 785-537-2112 or Manhattan-Riley County Crime Stoppers at 785-539-7777 or by web at www.p3tips.com/353.

It’s a busy weekend for RCPD as Fake Patty’s Day festivities are expected to bring in huge crowds of people to Aggieville and the greater campus area. RCPD typically brings in dozens of law enforcement personnel from surrounding counties to help keep order.
