There is a third case of COVID-19 in Riley County, health officials say.
On Tuesday morning, the Riley County Health Department sent out a press release on Facebook that says a 57-year-old male arrived at Via Christi Hospital on March 27 with symptoms of the virus and was tested. The test results were just released. The patient remains in intensive care.
”He is considered an imported case, and not an instance of community spread. The patient had recently traveled with his family to a church meeting in the Kansas City area. His family members are currently in quarantine at their home in Riley County,” the release says.
The Riley County Health Department is currently tracing any contact the individual may have had with others.
Shortly after the press release, Manhattan-Ogden USD 383 released a statement on Facebook regarding the positive case as well that says the individual had a relationship with an employee at Marlatt Elementary School.
The post goes on to say that the employee has not been at the school for 6 days and has no symptoms.
“We have been in contact with the Riley County Health Department and they cleared us to continue with student pick up of belongings,” the statement reads.
The post asks that anyone who does not feel comfortable picking up belongings at the school make alternative arrangements.
