The men’s golf team was forced to withdraw from this weekend’s Big 12 Match Play Championship in Houston, Texas, due to university health protocols and Big 12 Conference guidelines.

The team reported a positive COVID-19 test, requiring many to quarantine due to close contact.

The Wildcats earned the No. 7 seed for the match play with its finish at the Colonial Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday. They played with a six-man lineup at Colonial Country Club during the week as part of the Big 12’s strategy to minimize contact between players at teams during events. It was the first event of the Big 12 season.

K-State looks to resume the season in the spring at the Hammock Creek Collegiate in late February in Palm City, Florida.
