The women’s basketball team plays Kansas City on Monday at home before traveling to Ames, Iowa, to take on Iowa State on Friday, kicking off conference play.

K-State heads into its Monday night matchup with a 3-2 record overall with losses to Kentucky and Idaho State. Last time out, the Wildcats topped Omaha 66-59 on Saturday.

Coach Jeff Mittie is 5-0 against Kansas City, and the women’s squad has never lost to the Roos in Manhattan. A win over Kansas City on Monday would be the seventh in a row for the Wildcats.

On Friday, the Wildcats will take on a 3-3 Iowa State squad on the road. Iowa State defeated North Dakota State 85-64 its last time out and will travel to take on North Iowa on Tuesday before hosting K-State.

Monday night’s game against Kansas City is set for 6:30 p.m., while the game at Iowa State tips off at 6 p.m. Both games are live on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.

The men’s basketball team opens up Big 12 Conference play with two games this week, traveling to Iowa State on Tuesday night, before taking on No. 2 Baylor at home on Saturday.

K-State starts its conference play with a 2-4 record after struggling in non-conference play to begin the season. Even with those struggles, the Wildcats face an Iowa State team that has also struggled — the Cyclones have a 1-2 record going into the matchup.

Both teams come off of different results. K-State had a close one-point victory over Milwaukee on Friday night, while Iowa State was blown out by Iowa on Friday night, falling by 28 points.

Following Tuesday’s matchup, K-State will host No. 2 ranked Baylor on Saturday. Baylor started its 2020 campaign hot with a 4-0 start, including a win over No. 6 Illinois.

The Wildcats got a spark from their newcomers in Friday’s win, with four freshmen scoring in double digits. Forward Davion Bradford and guard Selton Miguel had 18 and 17 points, respectively, against Milwaukee.

That success with the new players has to continue for the Wildcats to come away with victories this week. Tip-off for the Iowa State game is set for 8 p.m. on ESPNU, while the Baylor game has a 3 p.m. start time on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
